I personally think the EPA is closing in on the IRS.
Imagine, just for a moment, that the head of the IRS was an elected official.
There is little to no hope for the EPA. Misinformation, virtually unlimited power and huge budgets have turned them into the Baby Huey Agency.
No links, just venting.

I know you're exagerating, and I agree that the EPA often acts like an aggressive mafia unaccountable to anyone, but I don't believe that they are Public Enemy #1.
I might list here Osama, Zarkawi, etc...
Horror stories of government agencies acting (as most of them do) as all three branches of government simultaneously are legion, with the EPA, DEA and IRS high on people's list of most myopic. Yet their missions are fundamentally benign -- even benevolent -- unlike those sworn to kill us by the city-load.
Read Imperial Hubris for a focused (obsessive?) view of what al-Qaeda has in store for us. Surely they pose a greater threat than tree huggers drunk on their statutory powers?
BTW: I wish that the EPA would be reformed, but I haven't read enough about specifics to offer much in the way of insight here. Isn't Bush's EPA a much lower level threat to commonsense than his predecessor's office?
