In the lastest round of Nepal's slide into nonexistence, many of the country's leading businesses were forced to shut down by Maoists intent on disrupting the economy there.
Using crude but effective techniques (i.e. shut down or we bomb you), the Maoists may be quietly taking the upper hand in this conflict against the monarchy. Just as al-Qaeda uses its dispersal to its advantage, so do these rebels. Like them, someone is sending money to fund and arm the organization.
Who is the more likely organizer, PDRK or PRC (North Korea or China for the acronym illiterate)?
I don't know enough to state definitively who is supporting these guys, but they are living proof that Communism is still a force in world politics that we shouldn't turn our back on. The last thing that we need is a resurgent Communism and Islamism.
