Sadr is a hothead. More than that, he is a constant irritant to the new government, a reminder of the unrest bublbling below the surface.
Even if the poor Shia are alienated for a time, better to bomb him than have a throbbing wound reopened whenever Iran dumps more funds into Sadr's account. Or is that a step too far?
If we can't appease Sadr, make him part of the solution, is the only viable option for the new Allawi gov't to incinerate him?
I'm curious to know if you think this would reduce or increase stability long term in Iraq. My gut feeling tells me that Sadr is an Iranian puppet, killing him won't solve the problem. But, killing him will send a message to Iran that their influence will be checked whenever it gets out of hand or directly conflicts with the new government's ability to rule Iraq.
We're already at war with Sadr, why should we pull any punches?

You heartless, maniacal killer! You said tried and executed -- as if his guilt were already known. How dare you presume to be the judge, jury and executioner, you right-wing war-monger!
I'm practicing being liberal for a day: take things too seriously, have trouble with humour, get riled up about small things.
Incidentally, ever wonder why such small points are so important to the liberal left? The most logical argument that I have heard about this comes from a postmodernist (the worst kind of lefty) at Harvard who believed in a grand theory about the culture-creation emanating from such light-hearted fare. For her every instantiation of political incorrectness [equate with evil? or just wrongness?] was an individual act of culture creation or reinforcement that made the world a worse place to live.
I couldn't prove that her theory was wrong because it was grounded in a belief, not data, and she couldn't prove it for the same reason.
So there we were. Or rather, are.
She might die of a stroke worrying about it, though. She was very serious. I dpn't plan to expire that way.
Now stop reading this, you war-monger! (Back to practicing...)
